Yesterday 24/4/18 I woke up at 5am I could not sleep thinking about and hoping we get the phone call. We know what’s coming we just want to know WHEN! So by 9am all the washing and ironing had been done, Mireya’s bottles and syringes cleaned. And then I sat with our beautiful little girl. I was just staring at the phone just waiting the phone did not ring.
Today 25/4/18 I rang Dr Barwick (cardiologist) secretary to find out what was happening she told me that Mireya had been discussed at the meeting and I needed to speak to a cardio nurse specialist she put me through to the nurse and she explained that the surgeons have agreed with the consultant that the 4 holes (2VSD’s, 1PDA & 1PFO) need closing as soon as possible. She then went on to explain Mireya had been put on the acute board which means priority and can be done in as little as 2-4 weeks. They didn’t schedule a date as yet for Mireya’s surgery as they are waiting for the Liver team to meet on Monday in case it could cause a problem or something else major needs doing with the cyst sooner. We don’t think this will be the case as the Dr said to us at the meeting the other day that the heart surgery is more important atm and the cyst isn’t causing problems as yet. But the surgeons need a report from the liver team before they can schedule a date for surgery.
We are hoping to know a date by the end of next week as she is on the waiting list.
