Mireya had another blood test before the meeting to make sure she hasn’t got any infection as this can put surgery back by 4 weeks She has this done every other week.
She also had her weight done and she is 3.390kg (7lb 8oz) this isn’t a good weight gain this week for Mireya. Then the MEETING we was so nervous waiting to go in and speak to the consultant then we got called in there was Mrs Barwick (Leeds consultant) and Mr Hayes (Doncaster Consultant) one of the consultants who Mireya has been under since she was moved to Doncaster neonatal unit.
They both reviewed all Mireya’s medication and decided to up the diuretic medication from 0.3ml to 0.5ml this medication helps keep fluid drained from around her heart and lungs.
Then a quick echo scan for Mrs Barwick to take images and seen the holes and everything she needed. Mireya is booked in for a detailed echo scan at Leeds on the 19th April which the surgeons need before surgery to plan how surgery will be done. Then on Tuesday 24th April a meeting will be held where Mrs Barwick is going to prioritise Mireya’s case and speak with surgeons and see when surgery is best to be carried out for Mireya once this meeting has taken place Mrs Barwick is going to contact us and let us know what the next step is.
They have also asked the dietician to get back in contact with us to change the way Mireya is been fed at the minute she is on continuous feed from 6am - 12am and has 24ml a hour but they want to change this to Bolus feeds which is a larger amount over 30-60minutes then has a break from feeding this will allow Mireya to have a break from feeds and also get her prepared to feed normal again after surgery.
We didn’t get a lot from the meeting today as we had hoped for but hopefully by the 24th April we will then know a plan.
We also have upcoming appointment with the liver consultant and a liver scan on Monday 23th April in Leeds Mireya also has a cyst in the lining of her liver which does need removing but this isnt urgent at the minute they are just keep a close eye on it until her heart problems are sorted out then we will start discussing the removal of the cyst.
